Training and Workforce Development

McKean Defense training and workforce development solutions are impacting shipboard staff and shore-based maintenance engineers and managers. We support all phases of training from development, review, and update of Manpower and Training Front End Analysis (FEA) and Navy Training System Plans (NTSP) to developing and fielding Integrated Learning Environment (ILE) compliant SCORM based courseware.

With a team of subject matter experts, technical specialists, and analysts, who are capable of establishing performance criteria at every level, we provide the customer with a disciplined, logical approach to making training decisions.

Customized Training Improves Operational Environment Performance

The Navy expects its personnel to be ready to perform with decisiveness and precision in real-world situations. To the Fleet, McKean Defense delivers specialized instruction to provide global Electronic Chart Display & Information System – Navy (ECDIS-N) training that aligns customized curricula with Navy performance expectations. At locations around the world, our trainers provide classroom and shipboard experiences to ensure that Type Commanders (TYCOMs), Afloat Training Groups (ATGs), and Immediate Superior In Commands (ISIC) possess both knowledge and hands-on expertise so that they are prepared to assess Fleet assets during scheduled inspections. Our trainers employ their 60-plus years of operational and testing experience to prepare the material from ground up to ensure that each session provides in depth procedures on the proper use and maintenance of the system. Classroom training includes simulation exercises to assess the students’ abilities to optimize the software in real world environments.

Workforce Development Training Delivers Results

The Commander, Naval Regional Maintenance Center (CNRMC), established the Workforce Development Program (WFD) to train its workforce on standardized maintenance processes and common policies. McKean Defense manages the WFD Program, and we initially focused on developing the first standardized training program to enable all RMC Project Managers in their roles. With WFD certification, based on McKean Defense’s continued curriculum development, Project Managers and seven other position classifications can readily move from one RMC to another to support changing requirements while sustaining quality processes. Our training experts are continually developing new courses of study. Since the WFD Program’s first course, over 1500 students have completed at least one of 11 courses of instruction.
